A lot of people I know think this movie is comedic genius, but I thought it was just ok. I was both amused and upset by how simply he was able to get on local tv and make a speech at a rodeo. I didn’t care for the scripted bits with his friend.

This is a classic comedy about the absurdity of life in (what was at the time, 200 years in the future). There are a few jokes about pop culture from the 1970’s that some people may not get. I had to ask my parents when I first watched this as a kid. But those scenes are short, and even without the reference, the jokes are still funny. There is some great slapstick and you won’t believe how funny it is to just watch someone sit in a chair.

This is also on the 1001 movies list.
